I must apologise to the Well-dressers of West Malvern.  I went to look at the beautifully dressed wells on Bank Holiday Monday, and then totally forgot to mention them in last week’s Gazette. The West Malvern Garden & Nature Club won yet another gold for decorating the West Malvern spout and the Hayslad spout team got a silver.

More, rather belated news, is that the group who gathered for a traditional St George's Day Dinner at the Brewers Arms on April 27th had a splendid meal. The event has become an annual fundraiser for local charity “The Malvern Hills Community Foundation”, Thanks go to Sue and David Matthews who, as in the past, did the readings.

The Community Market last Friday was much busier than last time, and a few children from the school were very enterprising.  The organisers are pleased that the market is growing, but they do need more village support and would welcome more fresh produce growers as stall holders.

The Annual Parish Meeting was held at the Village Hall on Monday and those that attended were treated to a fascinating talk about the restoration of the gas lamps from by Brian Harper of Sight Design.  As you have probably realised, the whole restoration process has taken much longer than originally expected; this has been due to the bad condition of most of the lamps -  there are still a few more lamps to do, but the end is in sight.  Brian demonstrated how the lamps worked and talked about the savings to be made in terms of money and carbon footprint, as well as the central monitoring system which provides information when there are problems.  Reports were heard from the PC Chairman, the Footpath and Tree Wardens and then John Raine talked about a Community Transport Survey, which we will apparently all hear more about through the Hills Echo.

I hope all pupils (and parents) at the Primary School have remembered the Children's Art Competition that the Village Hall is organising for the Diamond Jubilee.  All entries must be taken in to School next week.  Anyone who has forgotten about it or would like more information please contact Jen Close on 01684 567895.

There is to be united choir to sing in a “Churches Together in Malvern” Jubilee Service at the Priory on June 3rd.  Anyone who would be interested in joining should contact Heather Williamson on 575584 – there will be a rehearsal on Sunday May 27th at 3pm.
